In which there are more days' hunting; there is racing at Colwall and Upton on Severn; May cycles to Kings Norton to see her cousins; Ned is busy with Yeomanry Drills (Ed.)
1910, MARCH
1 TUESDAY St. David.
Fine all day.
Father went to Bromsgrove and the boys were about home nearly all day I cycled down to Droitwich in the afternoon and saw Doris Millard down there and she came back here with me to tea. Ned went down to Droitwich in the evening.
2 WEDNESDAY
Fine but rather windy.
I went to Hanbury to the Nursing Class in the afternoon. I called at the Pump House and stayed for tea.
Ned went down to Droitwich in the evening.
3 THURSDAY
Beautiful sunny day.
I cycled down to Droitwich in the morning Aunt Fanny Jackson came in the afternoon and brought Mary and Betty Shepherd with her. Doris Millard came down to tea as well. The boys went down to a concert at Salters Hall in the evening. Doris stayed here all night.
4 FRIDAY
Another very nice day.
Jack went with Father round the country all day. Mrs. Sam Wilson1 came down in the afternoon.
I went down to Aunt Bessie's to tea and Jack came and met me. Ned went to the Club in the evening
5 SATURDAY
Still very nice weather.
Mr. Colman the new vicar called in the morning. Ned went to Kempsey to look at a horse.
Jack and I cycled to Holt Fleet Hotel to look at two horses; and after we got back Jack and Ned stayed at Droitwich to see the football match. I came on home.
6 SUNDAY
Rather cloudy in the morning and raining nearly all the afternoon.
We all went to church in the morning. Miss Gilbert went home for two or three days in the evening.
Bert Millard and Norman and Alic Palmer2 came in the afternoon. The boys went down to Droitwich in the evening.
7 MONDAY
Nice and fine all day.
Father and Ned went hunting; the hounds met at Stock Green.
Cousin Polly 3Gibbs came to tea and I walked some of the way back with her afterwards. Ned went to the Club in the evening and Jack rode his bicycle down to Droitwich to post.
8 TUESDAY
Wet morning and stormy most of the day.
Father went Kidderminster and Ned went to Bradley Green in the morning. I walked up to the Station in the afternoon to order a truck. Miss Gilbert came back in the evening. Ned went up to the Club.
9 WEDNESDAY
Fine morning but very wet in the afternoon.
Cousin Philip Gibbs came in the morning and the boys were at home all day. Miss Gilbert and I were going to the Lenten service only it was too wet. We were all at home in the evening and we played cards. Old Venture got down and Ned had to shoot her.
10 THURSDAY
Very nice all day. I cycled down to Droitwich in the morning and the boys went exercising. Jack Ralph and Ronald Lord and Ted Palmer came down. Ned went to the Club in the evening and Jack to Droitwich.
11 FRIDAY
Sharp frost in the morning but a very nice day.
The hounds met at the Worcestershire Hotel Droitwich. Father and both the boys went, and I went on my bicycle. Bessie Palmer came back with me to dinner. Doris Millard came down here so she went with Bessie and me to see Jenny Terry4. Ned went to the Club in the evening.
12 SATURDAY
Dull and a very cold wind all day with some rain at times.
Father and the boys went down to Droitwich to a football match in the afternoon. Miss Gilbert and I drove down to Droitwich in the afternoon to fetch the grocery. Ned went down to Droitwich to a Yeomanry Drill in the evening.
13 SUNDAY
Fine day.
We all went to Church in the morning. Jack and Miss Gilbert and I went for walk to pick some water cress in the afternoon. Miss Gilbert went to Church in the evening and Ned went to post. Father gave me a lamb.
14 MONDAY
Very nice day.
Ned went to Colwall races. The hounds met at Gallow Green and all the rest of us went to the meet and Dolly Gibbs came and Doris Millard went with me and we met Emily Wilson down there. We went on our bicycles and stayed out with them all day. We had a very good day, but it wasn't much sport for those on horseback.
15 TUESDAY
Fine all day.
Father went to Bromsgrove and the boys were about home all day. It was our washing day. In the evening Ned went up to the Club and Jack went down to Droitwich. Miss Colman called here in the morning and Tom Palmer came in the evening. I sat up half the night to feed a lamb.
16 WEDNESDAY
Fine day.
I went up to Hanbury to the Nursing Class in the afternoon and then cycled on to Intall Fields to stay the night and go with Dolly to Kings Norton.
17 THURSDAY St. Patrick.
Fine day, only rather windy.
Dolly Gibbs and I cycled up to Kings Norton to see Cousin Lottie and Cousin Sarah. We got there about half past ten. We went a walk round Kings Norton in the afternoon and then started home about half past five. I got home about half past seven; but the boys had gone to Droitwich and Father had gone to dinner to Mr. Jones, the Master of the Hounds.
18 FRIDAY
Very cold and some snow in the morning and another shower of snow in the afternoon. The boys went to Bean Hall and Father went round the country. Ned went to the theatre in the evening.
Bert Millard came down and we had a game of cards. Jenkinstown won the Grand National5.
19 SATURDAY
Fine day only rather cold.
Father went round the country and Jack went to Droitwich to fetch the grocery. In the afternoon Ned went to Droitwich to see a football match. Jack and I cycled down to Droitwich in the evening and Ned went down with us to go to a Yeomanry Drill.
20 SUNDAY Palm Sunday.
Fine day.
Jack and Father and I went to Church in the morning. Ned had to stay and skin a horse. Jack Gibbs and Sam Bryan came to tea. Miss Gilbert and I went to walk in the afternoon and Miss Gilbert went to Church at night.
21 MONDAY Spring commences.
Fine day, but very cold in the afternoon.
Father and Ned went hunting; the meet was at Himbleton and but they didn't have a very good day.
I cycled down to Droitwich in the afternoon. Cousin Philip came in the evening and we had a game at nap;
I lost about a shilling as usual.
22 TUESDAY
Fine and nice all day.
Father went to Kidderminster and the boys to Bradley Green. I went up to the Schools to tea.
Jack came after, and Doris and I cycled with him into Bromsgrove to change his mackintosh.
We came back to Droitwich and Doris stayed here all night. Ned went down to Droitwich in the evening.
23 WEDNESDAY Hilary Law Sittings end.
Fine day.
The boys were about home all day and Father was round the country.
Bessie Seager came to tea; and Bert came down and we had a game of cards. Father went to Mr. Roes in the evening.
24 THURSDAY
Fine day, only rather dull.
Father and Jack went hunting; the meet was a Dunhampstead and they had a fair day's sport.
They came by here in the afternoon so I went for a bit; I saw them kill by Mr. Bakewells of the Old House.
I went down to Aunt Bessie's in the afternoon to tea; and Jack came and fetched me back.
Ned was down at Droitwich.
25 FRIDAY Annunciation. Lady Day.
Rather a dull morning but very nice in the afternoon.
I went to Church in the morning; and Miss Gilbert went to the three hours service.
Bert Millard came here to dinner and tea, and Ernest Millard and Jack Ralph and Ronald Lord to tea.
After tea Miss Gilbert and I went to Goosehill and gathered some primroses to decorate the Church.
Father and Jack went for a long walk all round Phepson.
26 SATURDAY
Nice fine day.
Father went hunting with John Wilson to Egdon with the Croome hounds and had a good day
Ernest Millard was here all day with the boys; and there were two fellows here drilling for the Yeomanry. I went decorating in the morning. Doris came back with me and then we went down to Droitwich on our bicycles after tea.
27 SUNDAY
Very nice day.
Ned and Miss Gilbert and I went to an early service at half past six and Father and Jack stayed after the midday service. Doris came down in the afternoon and we went for a walk round Summerhill.
All the Lords and Hubert Jackson came in the evening.
28 MONDAY Bank Holiday.
Rather a dull day; rained a little in the morning.
Father went hunting to Grafton and they had a good run. Dolly Gibbs and Doris came to tea and stayed the night to go to a Social at Droitwich In the evening Ned and I and Doris and Dolly and Bert Millard went to a Social at Droitwich. Bert stayed here all night. George Underhill6 was married.
29 TUESDAY
Dull morning but very nice after.
Ned and I went to Upton on Severn to the Croome Hunt races; we both cycled all the way.
I went with Miss Gerrard down to some friends of hers and had tea, and Tom Palmer and John Wilson came back with us. Ned went with Hubert and Tom Jackson and they stayed in Worcester and went to the theatre. Father and Jack went to Bromsgrove.
30 WEDNESDAY
Very nice day.
Father went to Bewdley and the boys went to Bradley Green in the afternoon.
I went down to Droitwich on my bicycle in the afternoon to do some shopping and came home to tea.
Sydney Hearne came here in the evening to see Father. Ned went down to Droitwich after tea on his bicycle. I had my lamb's tail cut.
31 THURSDAY
Fine day, only a very cold wind.
The boys were exercising all morning and went to Phepson in the afternoon. Father went round the country and came home to tea.I went to a Whist Drive at Westwood House in the evening. Ned went up to the Club Room.
